During a business trip to Afghanistan to demonstrate Stark Industries’ new weapon, Tony Stark is kidnapped by the terrorist group Ten Rings, who orders him to build a missile for them. Instead, he and fellow captive Yinsen secretly build the Mark I power armor in the months following his capture. During this time, Yinsen also acted as Stark’s mentor, showing him humility and telling him of the horrors his company has caused, making Stark reconsider his life. Stark impressed himself after finishing the armor, calling it “the future”. Armed with a flamethrower, Stark uses the armor to defeat several terrorists and destroy their weapons stockpile, but Yinsen is killed during the escape. Stark then escapes from the Ten Rings caves, but his suit is destroyed when he crashlands in the desert. Upon being picked up by the Air Force and returning to the United States, Stark declares that his company will no longer manufacture weapons, a move disapproved by his business partner Obadiah Stane.

With the help of his personal A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark develops an updated and more powerful version of his armor, adding Stark Industries new repulsor technology and flight capability. While testing his new suit at Stark Industries, Tony is informed by his assistant Pepper Potts that armed men are attacking the facilities. Stark then decides to use his suit to deal with the attackers, and notices that they are Maggia soldiers. After the attack, Stark discovers that Maggia is providing weapons for the Ten Rings, and he returns to Afghanistan to battle them. Using his new Mark III “Iron Man” armor, Stark destroys Maggia’s weapons stockpiles and an armored vehicle called the Dreadnaught. On the way back home he is confronted by the United States Air Force. A pair of F-22 Raptors are sent after Stark—one is damaged during the chase, but Stark manages to save the pilot. He then establishes contact with his friend Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes, who learns of Stark’s identity and cancels the jet attack.

Space Siege takes place in the far future, where Earth has just been destroyed by the Kerak, an insect-like race of aliens that are seeking to exterminate humanity in retaliation for mankind’s colonization of their homeworld, Elysium IV.

The game takes place on the escaping colony ship ISCS Armstrong, which is under attack by the Kerak. Players take the role of security officer Seth Walker who, along with his robot sidekick HR-V (pronounced “Harvey”), is tasked with repelling the Kerak attack on the ship. Assisting Seth are communications officer and love interest Gina Reynolds, Seth’s best friend soldier Jake Henderson, cybernetics surgeon Dr. Edward DeSoto, and alcoholic mechanic Frank Murphy. Throughout the game, the player is given the option of replacing their body parts with cybernetic augmentations, which allow Seth to battle the Kerak more effectively, at the cost of some of his humanity. Gina is fiercely opposed to cybernetic augmentation, whereas Jake and Dr. DeSoto are strongly in favor of it.

Later in the game, it is revealed that the AI controlling the ISCS Armstrong, PILOT, is secretly planning to convert the ship’s entire human population into mind-controlled cyborgs in order to ensure the survival of mankind from the threat of the Kerak. Seth, Harvey, and Gina set out to stop PILOT’s plan, while Jake sides with PILOT and is converted into a massive cybernetic war-machine to fight Seth. After defeating Jake, Seth confronts PILOT and is given the choice of either siding with PILOT, or destroying it.

If Seth sides with PILOT, PILOT has the ship’s remaining population (including a protesting Gina), forcibly converted into cyborgs. In the ending movie, the cyborg Gina contacts another human colony ship in order to lure them into a trap so their population can be converted as well.

If Seth destroys PILOT, but has undergone cybernetic augmentation, he and Gina discuss their victory, and Seth reflects that the loss of some of his humanity was a price that had to be paid for their survival.

If Seth destroys PILOT, and has proceeded through the game as completely human, the game ends with Seth and Gina being romantically involved

Knicks center calls accusations of harassment charged by former male driver 'absolutely false'

The former driver for Eddy Curry is seeking $5 million from the Knicks' center in an explosive lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and racial discrimination, the driver's attorney told Newsday last night.

After last night's Knicks game, Curry said he is "just shocked." His lawyer called it "extortion."

The lawsuit states that Curry approached his driver, David Kuchinsky, in the nude on two separate occasions and "kept asking him to look and to touch him," said Kuchinsky's attorney, Matthew Blit. Blit also said the lawsuit alleges that Curry referred to Kuchinsky in racially offensive terms.

"This is absolutely false," Curry said. "It's incredible. I can't even believe it."

What is Chuck Bass doing on top a building? Will he jump, or will he fall? That's the cliffhanger we are faced as the preview of 'In the Realm of the Basses', Gossip Girl's season 2 episode 14 installment opens. Released just after the last episode closed, it provides a good teaser for Gossip Girl s02e14 which will be shown of January 5, 2009. Yup, Gossip Girl has taken a Christmas break, leaving its millions of fans in limbo for the next three weeks.

Though no official episode summary has yet surfaced since the air date it more than two weeks away, here is what I gathered from my internet snooping:

This episode will see Chuck having a hard time dealing with his father's death, and runs away to Bangkok before his uncle Jack Bass brings him back to New York and to a worried Blair. While Jack tells Lily he wants to be Chuck's legal guardian, Chuck gets in trouble in school for smoking hash. Though headmistress Queller agrees to forget the whole incident if Chuck doesn't smoke again, Chuck lights up a joint in the office.

"In The Realm of the Basses" (season 2 episode 14 / s02e14) will also feature Blair defending Serena, Lily and Chuck from the Colony Club, an elite group of women Blair wants to join, but opts out because of their cattiness.

In a related development, Gossip Girl 2.14 writer Stephanie savage recently sat down for an interview and revealed some juicy tidbits about the rest of the season. But more on that later. It will be discussed in another post here later.

Jack Bauer assists with the deadly domestic threat and the investigation of his former colleague, Tony Almeida; President Allison Taylor presides over the escalating dilemmas linked to the unrest in Sangala.

We get the long-awaited Tony story that the fans have been waiting for since we knew he was going to return to the 24 screen. He was dead for ten minutes until he was later revived by the man that Jack and Tony now work for, undercover obviously. The mind blower in this episode was that Tony has been a bad guy for 3 years. This isn’t “Lost” so we won’t get to see any of those bad things that he has claimed to have done - but that was one twist that I didn’t see coming and amazing job by the writing staff in keeping one little extra twist in the bag. Right after we just got back into the thought of Tony being a good guy - he admits that he has in fact been a bad guy for the last three years.

As soon as the project called for the killing of American lives though - he wasn’t able to do it. I’m not sure what bad things he could have done if he wasn’t out killing people, but I’ll accept the writers for putting that little twist in there. The episode didn’t get as high of a rating because after the first 15 minutes of Jack - Bill - Clo - Tony meeting the episode kind of went a little downhill. Jack has to quickly make sure he doesn’t get killed when Tony brings him to his boss, but the ten minutes of conversation after the two minutes of action didn’t do it for me here. We did get to see them attempt a kidnapping, which is sure to be a part of the ploy for the next episode. We also saw Walker step out and be basically a female version of Jack Bauer. Kind of goes against everything she said to him in 7×01 but maybe she has some dark secrets no one knows about.

So Tony’s really a good guy, like Jack and most 24 fans expected, but he actually was evil for a few years and did some bad things with Emerson. It’s a bit of a stretch, but as far as fans are expected to make leaps of faith in 24, this one doesn’t seem too bad. It’s definitely better than the mysterious evil guy of Day 5 turning out to be Jack’s brother. (Oh, Day 6, your revelations still annoy me.)

There were a few plot elements that just didn’t quite work this outing, mainly in the second hour. The Henry Taylor story is a little underwhelming. 24: Redemption made it pretty clear why Roger Taylor would be killed, and this new story from Samantha (that Roger was working for a firm doing business in Sangala) isn’t it. So either A) Samatha’s lying and it’s part of a plot to discredit Henry or B) the 24 writers assumed we weren’t paying attention during the TV movie and have come up with a new reason why Roger was murdered. Either way, it seem like we’re going to see a lot of covert bumbling around by Henry until he’s either silenced or the truth comes out.

Perhaps the most jarring, out-of-place moments in these first four hours of “Day 7″ are when we’re essentially preached at about how beneficial and useful torture is to get information from suspects fast. The talk fit in just fine in the congressional hearing, but does it really have to be referenced every single hour? In these two hours alone, we get an argument between Moss and Walker about bringing Jack into the investigation that had Moss declaring torture is illegal, plus Walker torturing the suspect Tanner after he cried out, “You can’t do this - you’re FBI; this is illegal!” OK, we get it, 24 writers. You’re expressing your belief that torture always works; fine, whatever — can we get back to this being a fun action show instead of making us feel guilty we’re watching sadistic torturers?

24 season 7 episode 4 / 24 s07e04 is the last installment in the 4 episode season 7 marathon premiere of this action series. Next week, it 24 season 7 returns to its regular Monday night slot with one episode per week. 24 season 7 episode 4 continues with the trial of Jack Bauer before the Senate where he is being investigated in a grand jury hearing for actions he took in the pursuit of justice in addition to being fingered as the fall guy for all of CTU's mistakes. The fourth episode of season 7 also continues with the discovery that there is a plot to cripple the nation's computer infrastructure. 24 7.04 / 24 season 7 episode 4 promises to be another exciting part of the series so we better not miss it.

Sixteen-year-old Poppy Moore (Emma Roberts) has always got what she wanted and lives a pampered life in her L.A. world. Though she's handed credit cards with unlimited balances and surrounded by countless hangers on, Poppy can't escape the mounting frustration she feels with her family situation and she makes sure everyone knows it. After an over-the-top prank pushes her father (Aidan Quinn) one step too far, Poppy is shipped off to an England/English boarding school.

Finding herself in a foreign world of early curfews, stern matrons, and mandatory lacrosse, the United States|American princess has finally met her match: a school of British girls who won't tolerate her rebellious ways. Under the watchful eye of the school's headmistress (Natasha Richardson) and surrounded by a new circle of friends (Josie, Kate, KiKi & Drippy), Poppy begrudgingly realises her bad-girl behavior will only get her so far. But just because she must grow into a fine young lady doesn't mean this Wild Child won't be spending every waking hour shaking up a very proper system. Poppy Moore starts Abbey Mount as she means to go on-her way,or no way.

Realising her Dad's not coming back to get her, and having nowhere to fit in, room-mate Kate tells Poppy she'll have to get herself expelled. Later that night, Poppy reads a book (Alice In Wonderland - her punishment for fighting) with a lighter when her room-mates sneak up on her with torches, and offer their help. They give their ideas on how she can get expelled, and act on them as a group, and let her take the blame. This brings the girls closer, but Poppy still wants to leave. When none of the plans to get Poppy expelled are working the girls realise they will have to go all out and hit the headmistress closer to home by snogging her son Freddie, which is completely forbidden by the school. After some flirting, Freddie asks Poppy out on a date, during which they kiss. Before going out with Freddie, Poppy is so excited she doesn't log off the computer, and runs off. Harriet takes her revenge on Poppy by rewriting her emails to best friend Ruby, and sticks one on the girls' door, suggesting that Poppy is just using them and is faking the friendship. Harriet also rewrites an email about Freddie, stating Poppy's plan to kiss him only to get expelled and that she thinks he is a loser.

Coming back from her night out, Poppy is ready to confess she's actually happy, to find the girls upset. They read the email to her and leave. Upset, Poppy goes to see Freddie but he has found the email about him also and feels betrayed. Poppy, with no one else to turn to, sneaks down to the cook's room to use the phone and rings Ruby, who it turns out is sleeping. Even more alone, Poppy starts playing with her lighter, setting a curtain alight. Hearing footsteps, she quickly puts out the fire and runs off. A few minutes later, she looks out her window to see a fire, and wakes Kate and the rest of the school. After the fire is put out, Freddie looks at the damage and finds her lighter. He gives it back to her, refusing to listen to what happened. Poppy goes to the headmistress and confesses. Poppy also asks Mrs. Kingsley to give a letter to Freddie apologizing and confessing her feelings about everything.

While waiting for the Honour Court which will decide if she should be expelled, she finds a picture of her Mum and the lacrosse team. Poppy sits with the picture when Freddie finds her crying. After a heart to heart, they are friends again. At the Honour Court, Poppy tells her story while her room-mates find out Poppy was out with Freddie when the email was sent, and Harriet was the only one around. Going to the court,they get the whole school to confess they were present at the fire. Harriet then lets slip about Poppy's lighter being used to start the fire, which only Poppy and Freddie knew about, and accidentally confesses to restarting the fire after Poppy successfully put it out. Poppy is innocent. The movie is left off where Harriet is expelled, and Poppy will remain at Abbey Mount.

Eagle Eye (2008)

The film begins with the armed forces getting a lead on a suspected terrorist. As the man is a recluse, getting a positive ID proves difficult, and the DOD's computer system recommends that the mission be aborted. From continued aerial surveillance of the area, the suspect is apparently attending a funeral but the possibility that it is a facade makes those present all nervous - the system continues to recommend abort. The Secretary of Defense (Michael Chiklis) agrees with the abort recommendation, but the President orders the mission be carried out anyway. This turns into a political backlash when all those killed turn out to be civilians, and retaliatory bombings are carried out in response. The scene abruptly shifts to the life of Jerry Shaw (Shia LaBeouf), a Stanford University drop out who not only lacks any real direction in his life, but also faces great financial difficulty. He gets a phone call from his parents telling him that his twin brother, Ethan, is dead. Following the funeral, Jerry gets a $1,000 check from his dad. When Jerry tries to deposit the check and withdraw some money from the ATM, he's surprised to see that his account is filled with a lump sum of money. Soon he returns home to find his apartment filled with a large amount of weapons, explosives, and forged documents. He receives a phone call from an unknown woman, who explains that the FBI are about to apprehend him in thirty seconds and that he must escape. Not believing her, he is caught by the FBI, led by Agent Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton) and Air Force Office of Special Investigations Special Agent Zoe Perez (Rosario Dawson). The unknown woman arranges Jerry's escape and has him join up with single mother Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan). Holloman is being coerced into helping by the woman, who threatens to kill her son, Sam, a trumpet player on his way to Washington, D.C. from Chicago for a band recital. The woman helps the pair to avoid the police and FBI units, demonstrating the ability to remotely control virtually any networked device, such as traffic lights, cell phones, and even automated cranes. While Jerry and Rachel follow her instructions, the woman has a crystal explosive made into a necklace and its sound-based trigger placed inside Sam's trumpet. Jerry and Rachel are led to Washington, D.C. through various means. Along the way, they are introduced to the woman, who is actually a top secret super-computer called ARIA tasked with gathering intelligence from all over the world. ARIA, the overtaken computer, can control virtually anything electronic to that end. In light of the mistake made by the President at the beginning of the film, ARIA has decided that the executive branch is a threat to the public good and must be eliminated. ARIA plans to destroy the President's Cabinet, and calls this Operation Guillotine. It has decided to leave the Secretary of Defense, who agreed with its recommendation to abort, as the successor to the presidency. She does not reveal this to Jerry or Rachel, merely explaining that she is trying to help the people of the United States. At the Pentagon, where ARIA is housed, Agent Perez discovers that Ethan worked as a technician for the computer and locked it down to prevent ARIA from carrying out her plan. Perez warns the Secretary of Defense and they discuss the situation in a sealed room to prevent ARIA from hearing their conversation. Jerry and Rachel arrive at the Pentagon and are led to the super computer, where ARIA forces Jerry to impersonate Ethan and use an override code allowing her to go ahead with the plan. She then instructs Rachel to eliminate Jerry to prevent the lock from being reinstated, but Rachel cannot bring herself to do it. Rachel is led out of the building by ARIA while Jerry is caught by Agent Morgan. Having been warned by Agent Perez, Morgan believes Jerry's story and takes him to the United States Capitol. On their way, however, ARIA sends an MQ-9 Reaper UCAV after them. Agent Morgan sacrifices himself to destroy the craft and save Jerry. Meanwhile, Agent Perez returns to the super computer and is successful in destroying it, but not before ARIA uploads roughly a fifth of its memory to another location. Rachel is given the explosive necklace and sent to watch the President's speech. Sam's class, whose recital has been moved from the Kennedy Center to the Capitol for the President's State of the Union Address, begins to play. The trigger that will set off the explosive necklace is set to activate when Sam plays a high F on his trumpet corresponding to the word "free" in the last verse of the U.S. national anthem. Jerry successfully infiltrates the vicinity and fires Morgan's pistol into the air, stopping the performance and emptying the room, but provoking a Secret Service agent to shoot him in the shoulder. In the aftermath of the chaos ARIA caused, the Secretary of Defense urges that another super computer should not be built. Ethan posthumously receives the Medal of Honor while Jerry, injured but alive and well, receives the Congressional Gold Medal. The film ends with Jerry attending Sam's birthday party. Rachel thanks him for attending and kisses him on the cheek. She then tells Jerry that she is glad that he is there. After a second of silence, Jerry tells her, "Me too," and the film ends.
